Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how DocToolkit – Scan & PDF Tools (“the App”, “we”, “our”) handles your information. The App is developed by Rohan Krythos (“the Developer”). By using the App you agree to this policy.
In short:
• DocToolkit works fully offline. It does not request internet access.
• We do not collect, upload, sell or share your documents or any personal data.
• No account, no ads, no analytics, no crash-reporting service.
1. Information we collect
We do not collect, transmit or store any personal information on our servers. We do not have servers for this App. Everything you scan, import, create or edit — documents, photos taken with the camera, and text recognised by OCR — is processed and stored on your device only.
The App does not ask for your name, email address, phone number, location, contacts, microphone or advertising ID, and it does not require an account.
2. Where your files are stored
- Inside the App — your library (document list, favorites, folders, Recycle Bin, search index and OCR text) is kept in the App’s private storage on your device.
- In your device’s public storage — documents you create or edit with the App are also saved as normal files in the Documents/DocToolkit folder (images exported from PDFs go to Pictures/DocToolkit), so that you can open them from other apps and keep them if you uninstall DocToolkit. These files stay on your device. You can delete them at any time with any file manager.
- Recycle Bin — deleted documents stay in the in-app Recycle Bin for 30 days and are then removed permanently. A document in the Recycle Bin is also removed from the Documents/DocToolkit folder.
3. Permissions we use
- Camera — used only when you scan a document. Pictures are not sent anywhere.
- Storage / “All files access” (optional) — used to find documents that already exist on your phone (for example PDFs in Downloads or WhatsApp) so they appear in the App, and, on older Android versions, to save your created files into Documents/DocToolkit. Files are read only on your device and are never uploaded. You can switch this permission off in system Settings at any time; the App will ask again the next time you open it, and you can still add files with Import, “Open with” and Share.
- Biometric / screen lock (optional) — used only if you turn on App Lock. Fingerprint and face data are handled by Android itself and are never available to the App.
4. Third-party services
The App contains no advertising and no analytics or tracking tools. Text recognition (OCR) runs on your device using Google ML Kit with a model that is bundled inside the App; your images and text are not sent to Google or anyone else.
When you choose Share, Print or “Open with” another app, the selected file is handed to that app (or to the Android print service) at your request. What that app does with it is governed by its own privacy policy.
The current version of the App has no in-app purchases or subscriptions. If paid features are added in the future, payments would be handled entirely by Google Play, and this policy would be updated first.
5. Password-protected PDFs
When you lock a PDF, the password you enter is used on your device to encrypt the file (AES-256). We never receive your password and cannot recover it. If you forget it, the file cannot be opened.
6. Data retention and deletion
Your data exists only on your device, so you control it. You can delete documents inside the App (they go to the Recycle Bin and are removed after 30 days, or immediately with “Delete forever”), delete the Documents/DocToolkit folder with a file manager, clear the App’s storage in Android Settings, or uninstall the App. Uninstalling removes the App’s private data; files saved in Documents/DocToolkit remain until you delete them yourself. We hold no data about you on any server, so there is nothing for us to delete on your behalf.
7. Children’s privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect any information from children. The App does not collect personal information from users of any age.
8. Security
Because your files never leave your device, their security depends on your device. We recommend using a screen lock and, for sensitive documents, the App’s PDF password protection and App Lock. The built-in HTML viewer has JavaScript turned off by default and cannot access the network.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date. Continued use of the App after a change means you accept the revised policy.
